MINNEOLA SCHOOL
I’m
working with the City of Minneola to get grant funding to restore
Minneola’s first schoolhouse. The City is
purchasing the
property at 100 Main Avenue, Minneola. The building opened in
the
mid 1890’s as the community’s first
schoolhouse. I
understand that it was in use in that capacity until 1915.
I’ve been trying to track down more information about the
schoolhouse and have not found much. Any
information that
you can provide would be helpful and appreciated.

SMITH
I am searching
for any record of the burial site of Louisa Adelaide Webb
Smith, wife of William J. Smith, who
obtained a Homestead Land Grant in Lake County
in 1890. They were married in 1886
in Orange Co, Fl. The record of their marriage application is
listed in Marriage book 1, page 241. Louisa's
father, Malcomb H. Webb, also obtained a land grant
in Lake Co. in 1891. He was 68 years old
acccording to the 1885 FL census and died in 1896.
His wife was named Julia Ann Davis and she died
in 1898.
Their land wasn't very close to Louisa's land but close enough to
assume that the whole family was buried somewhere in the St.
Francis area of the county.
I have been very unsuccessful in locating this family in Lake Co other
than through the Land Records. I would appreciate any
information
that you might be able to furnish me.
